How to set up a Linux device as a digital signage player with EasySignage?

Easily transform any Ubuntu or Fedora-based device into a cloud-powered digital signage player using EasySignage.

Before installing EasySignage, ensure a distraction-free environment:

  • Install the latest Chrome or Chromium

  • Disable screen saver/automatic lock:
    Go to Settings → Privacy → Screen Lock, and set Automatic Screen Lock to Off

  • Disable notifications:
    In Settings → Notifications, turn Do Not Disturb On and Lock Screen Notifications Off

  • Prevent screen sleep:
    Under Settings → Power → Power Saving Option, set Screen Blank to Never

  • Clean up interfering apps:
    Remove unused applications and disable automatic app updates to avoid popup interruptions

 

⚙️ Installation Steps

  • Open Terminal, then paste and run the installation command for your system (64-bit Linux):

    /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://appds.io/linux64.sh)"
    
  • This script installs the EasySignage player, creates a digital-signage folder in your home directory, and configures auto-launch at startup.

  • Reboot your device:
    Restart your device by writing reboot in the terminal.

 

Pairing and Getting Started

  • After reboot, the EasySignage player launches automatically and shows a pairing code

  • In your EasySignage dashboard, navigate to Screens → Add New Screen and enter the code

  • Once paired, your Linux device is ready to display playlists, live streams, web content, and more
