Why extend the storage on a digital signage player?
Extending the storage lets your player cache more media, playlists, and content locally for smooth and uninterrupted playback.
An external SD Card can be used to extend the internal storage of a screen to store apps, files, and media for large digital signage playlists.
Which players support extended storage?
This feature can be used on screens running Android 8.0 and above that have an SD Card slot.
- Make sure your player runs Android 8.0 or higher
- Confirm the player has an available SD Card slot
- Have an SD Card ready to insert
How do I open the player settings to extend storage?
On your screen, open Settings using one of the following methods, then enter the screen’s password.
- Remote control: press Menu or Settings, or long press for 3 seconds on arrow down
- Keyboard: Alt+M or F5
- Touch Screen: long press on the top left corner
- Enter the screen’s password and hit Enter
- Press on Open Settings
How do I format the SD Card as internal storage?
Once Settings are open, format the SD Card as internal storage so it can extend the player’s media capacity.
- Press on Storage
- Make sure your SD Card is inserted; if it shows as incompatible, press on it to format it (otherwise pressing on it opens it so you can view the files)
- Go to the three dots menu on the top right and press on it
- Press on Storage Settings
- Press on Format as Internal
- Note that the SD Card content will be totally erased, then press on Format SD CARD
- Wait for the format to finish, and do not eject it or turn off your screen while formatting
- Press on Continue
- Press on Move Content
- Press on Done
- Your SD Card will show as an internal SD Card that can be used to extend your digital signage media storage
How do I check the extended storage on my player?
You can confirm the newly extended storage from the management console.
- Go to the management console
- Click on Screens
- Click on the settings of your screen
- Click on your screen details
- Check if the total storage shows your newly extended storage
