# How to Use Digital Signage Templates?

Learn how to use ready-made digital signage templates and the online editor to design content quickly with EasySignage.

## What are digital signage templates?

Templates are pre-designed content across different categories that you can customise to fit your needs. They also include a built-in editor, so you can create and design templates from scratch for complete creative flexibility.

## How do I add a template to a playlist?

You add templates from within a playlist layer using the [EasySignage dashboard](https://app.easysignage.com/) .

To add a template:

- Open the management console
- Click on **Playlists**
- Open a playlist
- Click on a layer where you will add a template
- If the layer has no media, the apps dialog will open; otherwise, click on **Add New**
- Click on **Add from Templates**
- Click on a template category, for example, **Basic**
- Click on a template, such as **Basic text**, to add it (it will be added as an image)

## How do I edit a template in the online editor?

Once a template is added, you can open the online editor to customise it in the [EasySignage dashboard](https://app.easysignage.com/) .

To edit a template:

- Click on **Open Editor**
- Click on the text or object to select it
- Use the object controls in the top bar to make changes
- Use **Settings** to adjust the border, transparency, and shadow of the selected object
- Use **Font** to control text style, alignment, colour, size, and font family
- Use **Background** to change the template background colour, and **Color** to change the selected object’s foreground colour

## How do I position and arrange objects in a template?

The editor gives you full control over where each object sits and how objects stack on top of one another.

To position and arrange objects:

- Align an object to the left, center vertically, center horizontally, right, top, or bottom
- Use **Send Backward** or **Bring Forward** to move an object one step back or forward
- Use **Send to Back** or **Bring to Front** to move an object behind or on top of all others
- Change the left and top position values, or drag and drop objects and use the arrow keys to move them
- Use the **Layers** list to drag layers up and down, lock a layer from being modified, or hide and show a layer

## What content can I add to a template?

The editor includes several object and media libraries you can add to your design.

You can add:

- **Objects**, including social media objects and menu designs you configure with your own values
- **My Images**, where you can upload images from your PC, Dropbox, OneDrive, or Facebook, or reuse images from your assets
- **Backgrounds**, chosen by category and resized to fit the template
- **Collections**, a built-in searchable image library, and **Pixabay**, a third-party searchable image library
- **Shapes**, which can be customised in size and colour, and **Icons**, searchable transparent vector images

## How do I save and reuse a template?

When your template design is ready, click on **Save**.

- The template will be processed and saved as an image
- To edit it again later, click on **Open Editor**
