How to Track Digital Signage Screen Locations on a Map?

Learn how to set up live screen location in EasySignage so all your screens appear on a map with their online status.

What does live screen location show me?

A map of every active screen on your account, online or offline, so you can see where each display sits across multiple sites. Online screens appear as green pins and offline screens as red pins. The map updates in real time, which makes it useful for vehicle-mounted and mobile screens as well as fixed sites.

Setup has two parts: the device, then the management console.

How do I enable location on the device?

This applies to Android devices. Grant the app permission for precise location.

  • Open the device settings and go to Location
  • Turn on Location Services
  • Go to Settings > Apps, find the app, and open Permissions
  • Tap Location and choose Allow all the time or Allow only while using the app
  • Make sure Use precise location is turned on
  • Back in Settings > Location, open Location Mode or Advanced and select High accuracy

High accuracy uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks together, which matters indoors where a pure GPS fix is unreliable.

How do I turn it on in the management console?

  • Go to the SCREENS tab
  • Click SET LOCATION in the Screen Location column next to the screen name
  • Tick Enable auto-update location using the device’s GPS
  • Click UPDATE LOCATION

Where do I see the map?

  • Go to the DASHBOARD tab
  • Click SCREEN’S LOCATIONS on the left of the dashboard

Use the toggle in the top right corner for a fullscreen view, and switch to satellite view if street-level detail helps.

Can content change when a screen moves?

Yes, that is a separate feature built on the same location data. Geo-location lets you draw zones on a map and assign a playlist to each zone, so a screen switches content as it moves between areas.
