What is Power BI digital signage?

Power BI digital signage allows you to display live Microsoft Power BI dashboards on TVs, video walls, and digital screens using EasySignage. This is ideal for showing business metrics, KPIs, sales reports, and performance dashboards in real time.

Your data updates automatically, so every screen always shows the latest insights, making it perfect for offices, meeting rooms, and enterprise environments.

 

How does Power BI work with EasySignage?

EasySignage displays your Power BI dashboards by embedding a published Power BI report URL.

There are two main ways to show Power BI dashboards:

1. Public or Published Power BI Reports

If your Power BI report is publicly accessible:

  1. Open your Power BI dashboard in the Power BI service.
  2. Use the Publish to web feature to get an embed URL.
  3. Copy the URL.
  4. In EasySignage, add a Web/URL app layer to your playlist.
  5. Paste the Power BI embed URL.
  6. Save and publish.

The dashboard will show live data and update automatically when refreshed.

2. Secure Power BI Reports (Embed Token)

For secure internal dashboards:

  1. Create an embed token in your Power BI workspace (requires Power BI Pro or Premium).
  2. Use that token with your report URL.
  3. Add the secured URL in EasySignage using a Web/URL or BI app.
  4. Save and publish.

This ensures secure dashboard embedding for internal BI.

 

Do dashboards update in real time?

Yes, since EasySignage displays dashboards via an embed URL, your Power BI data refresh schedule determines live updates. Your screens will show the latest version whenever Power BI refreshes the report.

 

Is Power BI secure on digital signage?

Yes, secure Power BI embeds use authenticated tokens and controlled access.
EasySignage supports private dashboards when proper embed tokens are configured.
