How to Set Screen Brightness and Power with an AI Assistant?

Ask Claude or ChatGPT to dim your digital signage screens, turn them off out of hours, or set a weekly schedule, through the EasySignage MCP server.

What can the assistant change?

  • Brightness: set a screen’s brightness from 1 to 100 now, or on a weekly schedule with up to 3 time slots a day.
  • Power: turn a screen on or off now, or set a weekly schedule: on, off, or on and off at set times each day.

These are the same settings as Brightness and Power in a screen’s Screen Details, so you can review them there afterwards.

What do I need before I start?

  • An EasySignage Premium or Enterprise plan

  • An AI assistant connected to EasySignage with Full access to Screens. See How to Connect an AI Assistant to EasySignage

  • Players that support the setting:

    • Power management works on LG webOS displays, Windows players, Linux players and rooted Android devices. It isn’t available on web players, Samsung Tizen displays or Android TVs.
    • See Brightness Management for brightness.

What can I ask?

  • “Dim all screens tagged lobby to 40% from 8pm to 7am every day.”
  • “Turn the screens in the Melbourne group off at 10pm and on at 6am, Monday to Friday, and keep them off at weekends.”
  • “Turn the Reception screen off now.”
  • “Which of my screens support power management?”

What should I check?

  • Time zone. Schedules follow each screen’s own clock. Check the screen’s time zone if a change happens at the wrong time.

  • Publish. Ask the assistant to publish to the screens so they receive the schedule. Once received, a screen keeps following it even if it goes offline.

  • Screens that are off. A screen that’s turned off can’t show content, so check the power schedule doesn’t overlap a campaign you’ve scheduled.
