# QR Code Generator

A QR code lets viewers open a link on their phone: a menu, a form, a website or a social media page. You add it as an object in the template editor, so it sits on top of your design and you can move and resize it like any other object.

## How to Add a QR Code

1.  Open the playlist, then click the layer. See [Playlist Media Management](https://easysignage.com/help/playlists/digital-signage-media/) .
2.  If the layer is empty, the content apps open. If it already has media, click **Add New**.
3.  Click **Templates**, choose a category, then click a template to add it to the layer. To start from an empty design, choose **Basic**, then **Blank**. See [Add Template](https://easysignage.com/help/templates/add-templates/) .
4.  Click **Open Editor**.

5.  In **Objects**, scroll down and click **QR code**. The QR code is added to the design and its settings open.

6.  Enter the link the QR code should open, for example `https://example.com/menu`.
7.  Click **COLOR** to choose the colour of the code, and **BACKGROUND** to choose the colour behind it. Keep a strong contrast, such as dark on light, so phones can scan it.
8.  Click **Done**.

9.  Drag the QR code to where you want it and drag its corners to resize it. Make it large enough to scan from where your viewers stand.
10.  To change the link or colours later, double-click the QR code, or click the pencil at its top-left corner.
11.  Click **Save**.

12.  Click **Publish changes of this playlist** to send it to your screens.
